The Canada Korea Business Council (CKBC) will be Canada’s business, export trade and investment attraction facilitator, catalyst and advocate on Korea. It will be a private, not-for-profit business association. The CKBC will provide its member community with the strategic insight, network access and influence required to:
- Successfully initiate and expand business development in Korea;
- Secure Korean investments into Canada;
- Promote joint projects on innovation and R&D initiatives; and
- Advocate Canadian business interests in Korea
In addition to its focused and practical services, the CKBC will be the voice of the Canadian business community on issues affecting Canada-Korea business, trade and investment.
The CKBC members will include some of the largest and best-known Canadian firms, as well as small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), financial institutions, municipalities, governmental agencies and business/trade organizations. CKBC members will represent a wide range of industrial sectors, including financial & professional services, aerospace, automotive, mining, oil and gas, forestry, defence, clean technologies, ICT, agriculture, seafood, processed food, media production, ocean technology, life science and education.
The CKBC will lead the “economic diplomacy” by coordinating concerted high-level trade missions with federal and provincial political leaders, corporate CEOs and international relations leaders. The CKBC will also build stronger trust and friendship between Canada’s and Korea’s business and political leaders through food, sports, arts, music and culture.
The CKBC will initially have its head office in Toronto, and plans to expand the offices to Seoul and other cities in Canada and Korea.
